Onus for Android
Seal the apps that eat your day. To open one, earn it first: 20 push-ups counted by the front camera, 500 steps, or 5 minutes with the phone face down. Then it's yours for 30 minutes.
An APK, about 21 MB, for Android 7 or newer. Not on Google Play yet.
What it does
- Seals the apps you pick, like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and games. Phone, Messages and emergency calls always work.
- Counts push-ups on the phone with the front camera. No picture is kept or sent.
- Has no internet access at all. What you seal and do stays on your phone.
- Never blocks Settings or uninstalling. An exit code you choose turns the seal off for the day.
Installing it
- Download the APK on your phone and open it.
- Android asks whether your browser may install unknown apps. Allow it for this one install.
- If Play Protect warns about an app it doesn't know, tap More details, then Install anyway. It says this because Onus isn't from Google Play and asks for accessibility access, which is how it sees which app is open.
- Open Onus and follow setup. If Android says Restricted setting when you turn on the seal, Onus opens its App info and shows you the menu item that allows it.
Onus Pro for Android
Like the Google Play version, Onus Pro on Android is $29.99 a year (just $2.50 a month) or $4.99 a month, paid on this site through Paddle. In Onus, pick a plan: your browser opens this site, you sign in so the plan comes with you to a new phone, pay, and the site hands Onus its unlock. Cancel any time from the receipt Paddle emails you. It's separate from Onus for computers.
Onus is a self-control tool you install on your own phone. You can always switch it off or uninstall it.
